FULLERTON POLICE DEPARTMENT
AUTISM AWARENESS PATCH FUNDRAISER
IN SUPPORT OF TARA'S CHANCE

Join the Fullerton Police Department and Tara's Chance as we celebrate World Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month this April.

This Autism Awareness Patch was thoughtfully designed by Bella, a rider at Tara’s Chance, to represent the beauty and diversity of the autism spectrum.

The infinity symbol reflects the infinite possibilities and unique experiences of individuals with autism. The rainbow highlights the wide spectrum of strengths, perspectives, and identities, while the blue honors the history of autism awareness. At the center, a heart represents acceptance, inclusion, and the importance of embracing every individual for who they are.

This patch is more than a symbol, it is a message of understanding, connection, and community. Proceeds support Tara’s Chance and its mission to provide life-changing equine assisted activities for individuals with special needs.

You can purchase by visiting the Fullerton Police Department during regular business hours or email our office at office@taraschance.org.

How Equine Assisted Activities Support Individuals with Autism

Individuals with autism often experience the world in ways that can make communication, focus, and connection more challenging, but those same individuals also bring incredible joy, determination, and perspective. At Tara’s Chance, equine assisted activities create a space where riders can engage without pressure. Horses respond to energy, movement, and consistency rather than words, allowing riders to build connection in a way that feels natural and empowering. This creates an environment where confidence can grow and meaningful progress can happen.

Boyd’s story brings this to life. As shared by his family, Boyd looked forward to riding each week, talked about it all day and especially loved the chance to go fast. What stands out most is the joy he experienced and the progress he made, all while doing something he truly loves. In the arena, Boyd is not defined by limitations, he is a rider building skills, confidence, and independence. That sense of excitement and accomplishment carries beyond the barn, showing how powerful this experience can be for individuals with autism. Today Boyd is a thriving high school student at Sunny Hills. Watch Boyd's story below.
